DOCTOR’S DAY CELEBRATION 2022
The Alumni association of BGS GIMS lead by the present Interns – 2017 batch conducted a program to celebrate National Doctor’s Day on July 1st ,2022 from 2.30 to 4pm at the Mini Auditorium, College building, BGS GIMS, Bangalore.
The Dean cum Principal, MS, all HODs, all Teaching faculty, all postgraduates and all interns were invited for the same.
After welcoming everyone with a rose, Dr Jaswant and Dr Nehal shared the significance of celebrating National Doctor’s Day.
July 1st is celebrated as National Doctors Day in India since 1991 in honour of Dr BC Roy – an eminent physician, academician, freedom fighter and politician in West Bengal. He had played a significant role in forming the Indian Medical Association and Medical Council of India. Every country celebrates this day on different dates, but to honour Dr BC Roy’s contribution to the medical fraternity, IMA decided to observe July 1 as India’s National Doctor’s Day. Incidentally, July 1 is both the birth and death anniversary of Dr BC Roy – he was born on 1st July 1882 and died at the age of 80 on 1st July 1962.
Doctors are considered next to God, they are the protectors, or we can say, guardian angels. National Doctor’s Day is observed on 1st July every year in India to honour their contribution and noble work. This day is commemorated to show gratitude towards all the doctors who work 24×7, day and night to ensure our good health and safety. The theme for National Doctor’s Day, 2022 is ‘Family Doctors on the Front Line’. This theme highlights doctors’ contribution and shows them gratitude as they care 24×7 for the whole of humanity or a community as their family.
Following this introduction, there was a song performance by one of the house surgeons.
Next the Dean cum Principal Dr M.E. Mohan Sir addressed the gathering. Thereafter there was a Cake cutting ceremony where 3 representatives each from Staff, PGs and interns joined the Dean and MS in cutting the cake.
The interns presented a video of doctors sharing a few words about their experiences and doctor’s day. Next, group photos of all the departments were displayed one by one and the most creative picture among these was selected by Principal sir for the 1st and 2nd prize. Department of Emergency Medicine and Department of Anesthesiology won the 1st and 2nd prize respectively. After this, the Fun games events commenced. All Prize winners were awarded with lovely gifts.
The program ended with a Vote of thanks followed by High tea.
