Inauguration of Urban Health Training Centre (UHTC), Shiva Kumar Swamiji Nagar
Urban Health Training Centre at Shivakumar Swamiji Nagar village near BM Kaval was inaugurated under the blessings of his holiness Sri Sri Nirmalanandanatha Mahaswamiji and Reverend Sri Prakashanatha Swamiji and with the support of Dr. M. E. Mohan, Dean and Principal, BGS GIMS on 20th June 2024.
The inaugural event was supported by the local leaders Mr. Krishnappa, Gram Panchayat Member and Mrs. Leelavati and Mrs. Manjula from C For, a Non-Government Organisation working for the upliftment of the people in the same area. The event was also attended by local people and ASHA workers of the Shivakumar Swamiji nagar and nearby villages. All the faculty of Dept. of Community Medicine including the non-teaching staff were involved in the setting up of the UHTC and arranging for the inauguration ceremony.
The Health Centre located at a distance of around 7-10 kms from the BGS GIMS, will function henceforth as peripheral satellite centre as an off-shoot of BGS GIMS. The centre will be under the administrative control of Dept. of Community Medicine, with Dr. Ashwini G. S. as Administrative Medical Officer. The centre aims to provide primary health care with promotive, curative and preventive services to the population.
