WORLD HEART DAY 2025 CELEBRATION, 29th Sept 2025

In commemoration of the 25th Anniversary of World Heart Day, BGS Global Institute of Medical Sciences (BGSGIMS) and Allied Health Institutions organized a Mega Walkathon themed “Don’t Miss a Beat.” The event brought together more than 1,000 enthusiastic participants, including students, faculty, and healthcare professionals, all united for a common cause — promoting cardiovascular health and wellness.

This grand initiative was planned and overseen by Dr.M. E. Mohan, Dean /Principal, BGSGIMS.

Event Highlights

  • The Walkathon was inaugurated with the flag-off by Sri Jagadish, Circle Inspector, Kengeri, Bangalore along with Dr. Ravindranath Reddy and other distinguished guests.
  • The walk covered the route from Abhimaan Studio to BGS Cricket Ground, symbolizing unity in promoting heart health.
  • The program began at 9:30 AM and lasted approximately 1.5 hours, conducted on the BGS–SJB Cricket Grounds, a lush 5-acre open space.
  • The event’s theme “Don’t Miss a Beat”—urged citizens to take proactive steps toward preventing heart diseases through regular physical activity and a balanced lifestyle.

  • Revered Sri Sri Dr. Prakashnath Swamiji inspired the audience with a heartfelt message on the growing risk of cardiovascular diseases, even among young people. He urged everyone to stay fit and follow healthy eating habits, stating in Kannada: “Hotte munde Bandre heart ge thondre” — meaning “a big stomach leads to heart problems.”

The event concluded with the National Anthem, instilling a sense of unity and national pride among all participants. The Walkathon was met with overwhelming enthusiasm and left participants motivated to adopt healthier lifestyles and champion the cause of heart health.
