INTEGRATED CME ON MAMMARY GLAND

The CME program was conducted jointly by Departments of Physiology & Anatomy, BGS GIMS, Bengaluru on 26/08/2022.

Women are more prone to problems with their breasts. These problems can include: Breast cancer, Benign breast lumps, Mastitis, Virginal breast hypertrophy and so on.Early detection for breast cancer & other breast problems makes them easier to treat. With this intent, this CME was aimed to sensitize medical students & faculty to gain knowledge on the on the Anatomy & Physiology of breast tissue, Latest scientific advances in Pathology, Breast imaging, Surgical perspective of Breast cancer and Adjuvant  radiotherapy in breast cancer .

In Pre Lunch Sessions following topics were discussed – 

a) “An  overview on Clinical Anatomy of Mammary Gland – by Dr. Shruthi B N, Prof & HOD,
Anatomy, RRMCH, Bengaluru.

b) “The First feed-from Physiological view” by Dr. Prashanth  Kumar  M, Vice Principal, Prof &
HOD, Physiology, CDSIMER, Bengaluru.

c)  “Pathology of Breast Carcinoma” Dr. Sandhya V Consultant Pathologist, BGS Gleneagles
Global Hospitals, Bengaluru.

d) “Breast Imaging” Dr. Thimmanna C Senior Consultant & HOD, Radiology,  BGS Gleneagles
Global Hospitals, Bengaluru.

In Post Lunch Session following topics were discussed –

e) Breast – Surgical perspectives Dr. Monika Pansari Consultant –Surgical Oncology (Breast &
Gyn Oncology), BGS Gleneagles Global Hospitals, Bengaluru.

f) Adjuvant Therapy in Breast Cancer Dr. Mathangi J Senior Consultant & Incharge of Radiation
Oncology, BGS Gleneagles  Global Hospitals,Bengaluru.                            

Delegates were Credited with 2 CME Credit hours.  

During the inauguration ceremony, Our Dean cum Principal Dr ME Mohan inaugurated the Can-cervive project by releasing the flyer . Can -Cervive is an initiative by Department of Physiology and Research institute BGS GIMS in collaboration with Department of Oncology, BGS Global Gleneagles hospital. It is a health and wellness program for cancer patients that integrate modern medicine with yoga for improving the quality of life. This program offers Yoga training and customized nutrition plan during active cancer treatment and post treatment.

The vision, guidance & encouragement of our beloved Dean cum Principal Dr. M. E. Mohan has been the driving force for this CME being a success. We are very much indebted to the Management of BGS GIMS, Bengaluru for providing all the facilities for smooth conduction of this CME program.
