Brief Report about the Program |
Under the able guidance and support of our Dean of BGS GIMS, Dr. M.E Mohan, the CME programme was organised jointly by the Departments of Dermatology and Pathology, BGS GIMS, Bengaluru on 16th July 2024. Dermatopathology is a fascinating field that merges the intricacies of pathology with the extensive spectrum of skin diseases. It is nothing but the microscopic diagnosis of macroscopic cutaneous diseases. This CME was loaded with full of interactive and informative sessions which was very beneficial for the undergraduate and postgraduate students from various parts of Karnataka. Totally 267 delegates had registered and gained with this combined CME. The CME was well organised and conducted by our eminent faculties Dr. Major Manjunath H.K., Professor& HOD, Department of Pathology Dr. Sanjana A.S., Professor & HOD, Department of Dermatology. The first session was on Understanding Dermatopathology- A beginner’s guide to key concepts by Dr.Shashikala.P, Professor& HOD, Department of Pathology and Vice-Principal SSIMS & RC, Davanagere. The second session was on Hair shaft disorders by Dr. Sujatha Raj Harshad, Professor, Department of Dermatology, St.John’s Medical College and Hospital, Bengaluru. Next was a tea break for 15 minutes. Following tea break, the third talk was on Clinico-pathological correlation in inflammatory skin diseases by Dr. Rajalakshmi Tirumalae, Professor & HOD, Department of Pathology, St.John’s Medical College and Research Centre, Bengaluru. The fourth session was on Granulomatous dermatoses by Dr.Eswari.L, Associate Professor, Department of Dermatology, Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute, Bengaluru. Post lunch, there was slide seminar with live demonstration and discussion of Spectrum of Skin diseases- from slides to diagnosis by Dr.Shashikala.P and Cutaneous neoplasms- from the mundane to the arcane by Dr. Rajalakshmi Tirumalae. We, the Department of DERMATOLGY and PATHOLOGY take immense pleasure in thanking the whole management of BGS GIMS, Bengaluru for providing all the facilities for the successful completion of this CME programme. |
