Celebration of WORLDS BREAST FEEDING WEEK,1st -7th August 2025 – Conducted by Department of Paediatrics

Theme “ Prioritise breast feeding :- Create sustainable support systems.”

The annual breast feeding week (1st-7th Aug) was celebrated at BGS GIMS hospital from the department of paediatrics & department of OBG on 1st Aug 2025. Under the guidance of Dr. Purnima Samayam, Professor & HOD of paediatrics.

The gathering was graced by chief guests- Dean cum prinicipal Dr. Mohan ME, MS Dr. Shrikanth Kulkarni, Deputy MS Dr. Nischal, Dr. Rekha- HOD of OBG , Dr. Purnima S- HOD of Paeditrics, Post graduates, Interns, Faculties ,pregnant women & postpartum mothers.

The inauguration of “world breastfeeding week” was done at OBG seminal hall at 11.00am by lighting the lamp by our chief guests – Dean cum Principal Dr. Mohan ME, MS Dr. Shrikanth Kulkarni, Deputy MS Dr. Nischal ,Dr. Rekha , Dr. Purnima S, in the presence of faculties of Paediatrics and OBG department.

It was followed by invocation song by post graduate. The Paediatrics department organised a insightful orientation session to highlight the crucial role of breastfeeding in infant Health by Dr. Mouna, Pg from paediatric department. The event was made even more engaging with an informative power point presentation illustrating the benefits of breastfeeding, myths of breast feeding and common problems of breast feeding mothers. There was a poster competition held at Paediatrics OPD for Under Graduates, Interns, Post Graduates & Nurses and three best posters were selected for the prize.

Through these efforts, the department of paediatrics aimed to promote awareness and encourage the adoption of breastfeeding practices for the well-being of both mother & baby.

We concluded the programme of world breastfeeding week 2025 with great success.
