Celebration of ORS WEEK, July-2025 Department of Paediatrics

The culmination of ORS Week was celebrated with great enthusiasm on 29th July at the Reception Area of our institution. This annual observance, organized by the Department of Paediatrics under the aegis of the Indian Academy of Paediatrics, aimed to spread awareness about the vital role of Oral Rehydration Solution in preventing dehydration.

The venue came alive with a colourful display of hand-drawn posters, prepared by undergraduates, postgraduates, and interns, each carrying informative messages on the theme of the year. The event drew wide participation from faculty members, students, and the general public, making it a truly community-centric celebration.

Our respected Dean cum Principal, Dr. M.E. Mohan, and Medical Superintendent, Dr. Srikanth Kulkarni, were warmly welcomed by Dr. Purnima Samayam, HOD & Professor of Paediatrics, along with the department faculty. The Principal inaugurated the event with inspiring words, highlighting the importance of early recognition of dehydration and timely intervention with ORS.

The highlight of the day was a short play performed by 3rd-year MBBS students, consisting of  stories that emphasized the importance of ORS in everyday life. Their effort was highly appreciated by both the academic community and the general public for its simplicity and impact.

The celebrations concluded with interactive one-on-one discussions at DO’s and DON’T’S station setup by our postgraduates to address myths and doubts about ORS. In keeping with tradition, the Department of Paediatrics concluded the program on a sweet note by distributing sweets to all participants.
