CME on UNMASKING ACNE: MOLECULAR INSIGHTS & INNOVATIONS IN MANAGEMENT conducted by Department of Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy
Under the able guidance and support of our Dean cum Principal of BGS GIMS, Dr. M.E Mohan, the CME programme was organised by the Departments of Dermatology, BGS GIMS, Bengaluru on 3rd June 2025.
Acneis a common yet bothersome condition of majority of people in the world. This CME was loaded with full of informative sessions starting from pathogenesis of acne to recent advances in management which was very valuable for the undergraduate and postgraduate students from various parts of Karnataka. It emphasized on “Transform your skin, transform your life”.
Master of Ceremony was by final year postgraduates Dr.Tarun Jain and Dr. Sanjana Nabh. Totally 212 delegates had registered and gained with this CME.
The inauguration ceremony started by lighting the lamp and welcome note was given by Dr. Sanjana A.S.,Professor & HOD, Department of Dermatology. Inaugural address was given by our Dean cum Principal, Dr.M.E Mohan and vote of thanks was delivered by Dr.Dheemant, Senior Resident, Department of Dermatology.
The first session was on “Beneath the Surface: Unraveling the Roots of Acne by Dr. John Stephen. S, Professor& HOD, Department of Dermatology, Dr. Chandramma Dayanand Sagar Institute of Medical Education & Research, Bengaluru.
The second session was on “Endocrine Echoes: Hormonal Clues in the Acne Puzzle” by Dr. Srinath Aswathiah, Consultant endocrinologist, BGS Gleneagles Hospital, Bengaluru.
Next was a tea break for 15 minutes.
Following tea break, the third talk was on “Dietary Recommendations in Acne: Facts and Myths” by Dr.Nirmala Markandeya, Consultant Dermatologist, Bengaluru.
The fourth session was on “Breaking Out of the Norm: Innovations in Acne Care for the GenZ” by Dr. Shilpa K, Professor & HOD, Department of Dermatology, Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute, Bengaluru.
Post lunch session was on “From Blemish to Beauty: Tackling Acne & its Scars with Aesthetic Precision” by Dr. Vidya T S, Consultant Dermatologist, Bengaluru.
The last session was on “Difficult to treat Case scenarios in Acne” by Dr. K.N Shivaswamy, Professor & HOD, Department of Dermatology, Ramaiah Medical College, Bengaluru.
Finally, the session ended up with Postgraduate Quiz conducted by Quiz master, Dr. Heera Ramesh. 10 teams had registered and 4 teams were qualified for finals. The finalists were from Bangalore Medical College, Oxford Medical College, Ambedkar Medical College and Adichunchanagiri Medical College. First prize was secured by Bangalore Medical College students, Dr. Shephali & Dr. Prajna. Second place was secured by Ambedkar Medical College students, Dr. Aditya & Dr. Aishwarya.
