ISACON KARNATAKA 2024: WORKSHOP ON MECHANICAL VENTILATION

The Department of Anaesthesiology BGSGIMS had the privilege to conduct the pre-conference workshop on Mechanical Ventilation for 37th ISACON State Conference, Karnataka 2024 on 8th August 2024.

It was organized under the guidance of Head of Department and Course Director of the Workshop Dr Ramesh Kumar P B and the Course Co-ordinator Dr Shilpa H L.

It was curated with broad spectrum of topics on Mechanical Ventilation, from basic principles to weaning strategies, including newer advances.

After Inauguration programme at Early morning, the Workshop was kickstarted with Orientation and Presentation by esteemed lead faculties Dr Yoganarasimha N on basics of Mechanical Ventilation, Dr Varun Byrappa – on NIV and HFNC modes, Dr Suresh Kumar – on ARDS strategies and Dr Hemanth – on Hyperbaric Respiratory Failure Ventilation. This was followed by a Refreshment break.

The Presentation continued with discourses by Dr Madhu on newer advances, Dr Kripa – on sedation of patients, Dr Shwetha Odeyar – on Weaning strategies and concluded by Dr Geetanjali M – on Tracheostomy.

After a scrumptious meal, hands on workshop was conducted at BGS Skills lab from 2pm to 5pm where the course was divided into 4 stations.It was conducted by our Associate Faculty.

The hands-on component was particularly valuable, allowing delegates to work directly with ventilators and real-world scenarios. The practical tips and also troubleshooting greatly enhanced the learning experience.

Overall, the workshop was highly beneficial and provided a combined theoretical and practical knowledge. It helped to deepen the understanding of Mechanical Ventilation and its real time usage.
