Pharmacovigilance Committee

Pharmacovigilance is a key for drug safety monitoring and for developing better health care systems. Complying with the guidelines of the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, The Pharmacovigilance Unit at BGSGIMS was established in 2013 to monitor and analyse sentinel events, formulate an adverse drugs policy to prevent, report and analyse the adverse events that occur through a robust Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR) reporting system.

Accorded the status of an ADR Monitoring Cell (AMC) in 2017, the Pharmacovigilance unit is involved in active surveillance of ADRs, causality assessment, student training and conducting pharmacovigilance sensitization programmes for healthcare professionals and general public.

Scope of Work:

Monitor and analyse sentinel events, accidents and formulate an adverse drugs policy to prevent, report and analyse the adverse events within the hospital through a robust ADR reporting system.

To deal with external bodies and individuals for complaints on patient’s management and risk management policies to reduce actual/potential patient risk.
