World Anaesthesia Day Celebration on 16th October 2025 Conducted by Department of Anaesthesiology

World Anaesthesia Day was celebrated on 16th October 2025 at BGS Global Institute of Medical Sciences by Department of Anaesthesiology to commemorate the first successful public demonstration of ether anaesthesia in 1846 — a landmark event in medical history.

The program began with an invocation song followed by a welcome address by Dr.Ramesh Kumar P B, Head of the Department of Anaesthesiology. The Chief Guest, Dr.M.E Mohan, Dean/ Principal highlighted the evolution of anaesthesia and its vital role in ensuring patient safety and comfort during surgical procedures. Dr.Srikanth Kulkarni, M.S also honoured and emphasized the importance of anaesthesiologists during surgery referring to them as SILENT HEROES for their critical role in patient care.

Interactive sessions were conducted to raise awareness among students and healthcare professionals about the importance of safe anaesthesia practices, pain management, and critical care. Posters depicting the history, innovations, and future of anaesthesia were displayed.

The event also included video on airway management and resuscitation techniques, which received active participation from undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks. The event served as an excellent platform to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of anaesthesiologists in modern medicine and to inspire future healthcare professionals.
