5th National Pharmacovigilance Week Celebrations 2025, Department of Pharmacology, BGSGIMS
Pharmacovigilance is the science of drug safety, and in today’s digital era, ensuring safety is literally just a click away. The 5th National Pharmacovigilance Program was celebrated by the ADR Monitoring Centre, BGSGIMS to emphasize how reporting adverse drug reactions has become simple, quick, and effective. With digital reporting made available to all stakeholders, with just a click, each of us can play a vital role in building a safer healthcare system.
To strengthen knowledge, awareness, and commitment of various stakeholders towards patient safety, BGSGIMS aimed at educating the healthcare care professionals (both current and future) and general public (especially in the rural settings) on these aspects through various training programmes like walkathon, CME, interactive lectures and educative posters, so as to contribute towards ensuring patient safety.

CME invitation

Details of CME:
The CME program was inaugurated by the Dean, Dr. ME Mohan who emphasized the need for a robust ADR reporting system in Idia and the role of ADR Monitoring Centres in creating awareness programmes for healthcare professionals. The CME shed light on the other programs which are initiatives of the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, Ghaziabad like Materiovigilance, Hemovigilance, Vaccine Vigilance, Ayush Vigilance and also provided hands-on-workshop on ADR reporting.
Program Outcomes:
The programs were well received by participants belonging to various walks of life. Numerous doubts that participants had related to ADR reporting were clarified. To propagate the ADR reporting culture, BGSGIMS hospital administration has made arrangements for placing the ADR reporting pamphlet (patient education leaflet) at enquiry desks, reception area, waiting lounge, radiology departments, admission counters, OPDs to improve visibility. Plans to print the ADR reporting helpline numbers on OPD cards is in the process. Walkathon generated increased interests in the vicinity of hospital and renewed spirits of MBBS students towards ADR reporting.
